Areas where Botulin toxin A is most frequently used for rejuvenation purposes are:
New application of Botulin toxin A include treatment of hyperhidrosis (i.e. excessive sweating) of hands and armpits as well as relief of migraine headaches.
On patient's request anesthetic cream is applied 20 min before procedure.
Application of Botulin toxin A into the muscle is performed with few fine needle injections what usually takes no longer than 5 min. Then, cooling compresses are applied for 15-20min to decrease oozing and edema. Thereafter, patient may go home and return to normal activities. It takes 1-2 weeks for aesthetic result to appear. At this time treatment is reevaluated and additional units of Botulin toxin A my be injected if required.
Results of the therapy last from 6-12 months. After this period new dozes of Botulin toxin A may be injected.
The therapy may not be effective in correction of deep wrinkles. In these cases combination of Botulin toxin injection with fillers, fat grafting or surgical procedures are recommended.
Botulin toxin injection rejuvenates temporally treated area but doesn’t stop natural aging processes.
